Hi just got Vista and a new and better graphic card and my source games in steam laggs like hell. can anyone help me?

and now i cant get into games

Make sure you update the drivers for the card, that should work other wise I don't really know what else to tell ya.

Well, going to Vista now was the dummest thing a human being could do. Congratulations, you�re doomed until the manufacturers release better drivers, and that may take really long... Until then, Lags, bugs and crashes will be constant. Wait for DX10 too. Will sort out many issues!

One answer to the conservative, WRONG!

The Catalyst 6.9 driver worked better in Vista than it did in XP. The 7.2 drivers are much worse, but that is since they are optimized for the newer graphic cards.

And what? Wait for DX10? DX10 is alive and working, but you need a DX10 graphics card to use it, of course!

Crashes? NOOOOOO, not a single crash in Vista, not one single one since the day it was made available. To be honest, when i installed XP i had more problems than i had in Vista.

I have Vista and i havnt crashed/lagged (only when running alot of programs) or have ever ran into a major bug.

Ive never got the blue screen of death, nothing at all.

Just downgrade to XP and wait for SP3.
Reason: it will have most of Vista in it.

Dutta - I don�t blame vista for being new. I blame vista for bein immature and I blame Micro$$oft for releasing it before making sure it would be compatible enough.

I really liked vista. It�s beautifull, really faster (in the UI only) and it crashes pretty less. But it does and quite some times. I�ve had many crashes in 1 month. It was the trial version. Full, final, comercial bunddle we could get from a store to test Vista. Result: A Negative vote. For being uncompatible, Slow and immature.

And 1/4 Life, learn how to interpretate a chart. More oftenly means better... That makes XP Better....

Your computer has to be nuked then. I have never had a crash in XP nor in Vista in i don't know, as long as it has been on the market.

It might not be that easy to make an operating system that is perfect, i mean, it took MS like 7 years to finish Vista, just imagine how much coding that is, it is IMPOSSIBLE to make it 100% stable on every single computer out there.

And if you think Linux is better, well, rethink. I have Ubuntu on my laptop, because the installation program doesn't even boot on the stationary computer because of bad graphic card support. But it sure works on the lousy school-laptop, damn straight it does.

Anyway, Ubuntu is uglier than Windows XP, and i never thought that XP looked good. Everybody says "with Beryl it's the prettiest OS ever" but you can actually have the same effects in Windows. Infact you can have the "3d-flip" in XP on a computer that doesn't support Vista.

And OS X doesn't even look close to Vista, and the network capabilities are just thumbs down.

I remember the iMac's when they were released (apple, strawberry or mint flavoured) anyway, they were supposed to be the new "internet computers". Well to bad that you needed a 4-button sequence to get a friggin @.

My point is, Windows is mainstream but still, for gaming and entertainment purposes, the best you can get.

If you ask me, they should only sell vista with new computers. People buy vista (however much it costs) then they realize that it won't work for them. If your PC can handle vista, then great for you. Still, I don't see what so great about having vista (OMgz0RZ i msut haiv dx10!!!11), and I don't see why people want the highest version of it, when the basic (home?) version will work just as well.
