That might help. I think i believe you a little now, the darker areas of your screen correspond where the ground is in the blurred 3d background in the benchmark. There should be a way to disable the background, try asking at steampowred (Just say your doing it for HL2). If the 3d background doesn't load you should be able to hit the new game button. --------------------

I dont want it

I'm not saying you have it. I'm just saying the background on the benchmark, is a blurred picture of the first background map in the game. I'm saying you have Ep2!

Did you even read my whole post.

If somehow you can force EP2 to run the background instead of the map, the game might actually let you look at the "new game" menu.
