My Own Portal Textures, Could use some help

I've been trying to duplicate the official Portal textures.

Sorry, I don't know much about Source either. You want to create .vtf files using VTFEdit.

No, they're not animated. But I could make an animated version. I have adobe after effects, so maybe. I would have to know what format to render it in and how to convert it into .vtf's.

I could convert everything for you, but first you have to change the backround color to gray. (I'll get a pic of the gray asap)
Anyway, this is what that skin looks like ingame:

Thanks, i'll use that. I have the .vtf plugin for photoshop. What I really need help with is how to save the files. What do I need to when I make the files and such. It's hard to explain. I already know how to do alpha maps, normal maps, etc. I just need to know... how to implement them.(?)

See what I'm saying? I need to know how to make them in the context of the portal textures.

Best way I could think of to put it.

Did you know that the maximum number of characters allowed in a signature is 50 000 ? And I'm using 1275 in my signature !!!

For the animated version, what fps would you need, what resolution would you prefer and what format would be the best? I can render jpg and targa sequences, so tell me. I already have the animated version ready, I just need this info.

Animation:

FPS, don't worry about this, if you want it to look good you'll need to add say 30 frames of animation, so make 30 tga. files.


file type? you don't decide, it has to be tga for the vtf edit, the overal one will be a vtf...

resolution? i'd say 1024 x 1024 at least.
